What we do

TY Europe facilitates exchanges, home-stays and direct swops for Irish teenagers (usually in Transition Year) with French/Spanish/German teenagers of a similar age for 1 to 6 months. Prior to, during and following the exchange TY Europe Directors are contactable for information and advice.

How Does it Work?

If you are interested, the following must be completed before we can find you an exchange family.

  • Each family/student taking part in an exchange must complete a comprehensive application form.
  • School reports and a student reference from the school must be provided.
  • Written confirmation from school that exchange student has confirmed place.
  • 2 confidential family references will be required.
  • Where possible a meeting with the student would be beneficial.

Following completion of the application process TY Europe will propose possible options for your consideration.

When the exchange is confirmed the two families will communicate directly and make travel arrangements for both students.
Vetting for both families is required.

Prior to commencement of travel TY Europe will prepare students for their exchange and while the students are away from home TY Europe will be in contact with both students and parents as required. TY Europe will provide a report at the end of the exchange.
